To perfectly absorb the beauty of the rushing waters of Niagara Falls, Maid of the Mist boats are just perfect vessels. One of seven Maids, have been in service over the past 150 years, offering its passengers their dream ride straight into the heart of the Falls.
The maids have over passed more than 150 years of tourism history of providing the enthusiastic tourists the beauty and the amazing vistas of the Niagara Falls from a very close distance. In the beginning, Maid of the Mist used small rowboats to ferry across the Falls in the 1800s. Today these yacht-like boats carry thousands of passengers a year, to experience the glory of the Falls.
The rides set sail from both the Canadian and American sides over a powerful diesel-engine, double-decker boat, which offers a 15 minute ride to Niagara Falls. This thrill ride takes the passengers through the foaming waters beneath the Niagara Falls. The journey begins at the bottom of the Observation Tower, where a souvenir rain poncho is provided. There are wheelchairs and stroller also accessible at all parts of the Mist Tour.
The Maid of the Mist will then take you to the base of the American Falls and then to the basin of Horseshoe Falls, through the crashing waters and massive rock formations. This small but breathtaking tour allows you to experience firsthand the power and intensity of the falls. Depending on weather conditions, the Maid of the Mist generally operates between April and October and leaves about every 15 - 20 min between 7:45 am and 4:45 - 7:45pm, depending on the time of season.
